For nothing

If Christ is not raised, then your faith is in vain

1 Cor. 15:17

This is because if death conquers Christ, you should place your faith in death. If Christ is not raised, death is stronger and more powerful, and thus a power more worthy of trust. Such a trust is far from a strange belief, since by default we see death and violence as the ultimate power to get things done. From our our fantasies to our policies of fixing problems we tend to identify getting serious with cracking down and cracking skulls.

One necessary component to the Paschal mystery was that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death (Heb. 2:14.) Easter Sunday proved that sacrificial love and union with the Father is stronger than anything we trust in due to the world, the flesh, or the devil.
