Without a doctrine of the Triune God, distinction is an imperfection, and so even the distinction of God and creature is an imperfection which is overcome by the perfection of the Absolute. The Trinity alone can preserve the doctrine of creation.

That doesn’t preclude a God who consists of 72 Persons.

While the doctrine of the Trinity gives a deeper explanation for distinction, there must be an explanation which comes from nature. Distinction is included pre-eminently in the divine perfection. For distinction is not multiplicity. Multiplicity (That is not this and this is not that) is non-being. It is more formal to distinction that it is a perfection than that it makes one thing not be another. Therefore it does not demand multiplicity in its cause.
